Consultation is supplemental education for EMDR trained professionals. It focuses on mastery of the EMDR approach to psychotherapy and integrating EMDR into your practice. Julia’s role is to help the Consultee understand the technical aspects of integrating EMDR into overall case conceptualization, treatment plan, help Consultees develop skills, and provide Consultees with education. Consultation with CIT should not substitute for foundational psychotherapy skills. In addition, Consultation is different than Clinical Supervision. While Consultation is educational, Supervision has a much broader focus including all basic therapy skills, ethics, legalities, and development of the therapist self.
Julia received basic training through Trauma Recovery EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Programs. She then completed her Certification process through EMDRIA and now holds a Consultant in Training (CIT) status. As a CIT, Julia participates in consultation of consultation with an EMDRIA Approved Consultant. Julia keeps abreast of current trends and changes happening with EMDR.
Consultation can be completed in both individual or group format. Professionals seeking consultation to work towards EMDRIA Certification will need to receive at least 10 hours of individual consultation out of the total of 20 hours. As a CIT, Julia can provide a total of 15 hours towards your Certification hours.
